Update - novo desafio/new challenge

Este post vai ser um pouco diferent do costume. Queria explicar e aprtilhar algumas coisas convosco e em vez de fazer apenas uma pequena nota num post achei que podia dedicar um texto inteiro a isso.

Primeiro, como alguns de vocês devem ter reparado, ultimamente não tenho feito updates tão regularmente como antes e gostava de vos explicar porquê. Bem, para já, a inspiração nem sempre vem quando queremos, mas na verdade tem sido mais dalta de tempo do que outra coisa. Tenho estado a trabalhar noutros “projectos” e tornou-se um pouco dificil equilibrar tudo. Depois de ter publicado o meu primeiro livro tenho recebido alguns pedidos para escrever outro e, embora não me parece que isso vá acontecer num futuro breve (ou sequer se acontecerá de todo), tenho algumas histórias às quais me tenho estado a dedicar. Para além disso, por acidente um dia destes tropecei num site de Fan Fiction. Para quem não está familiarizado com o termo (eu também não estava) é um site onde pessoas normais/anónimas escrevem as suas próprias versões de séries/peças de teatro/filmes já existentes.  No fundo é um pouco fazer batota, porque te estás a basear em personagens que já alguém criou e tens a vantagem de já ter uma base de pessoas interessadas nelas, o que aumenta as probabilidades de lerem as tuas histórias, mas ainda assim é uma boa maneira de praticar a escrita. O que gostei mais do site é que, ao contrário de outros universos disponiveis na internet, tem uma vibração muito positiva e as críticas são amigáveis e construtivas, o que é motivante. Tudo isto para dizer que depois de ler 1000 histórias já publicas decidi experimentar e tenho agora lá uma história à qual vou acrescentando capitulos regularmente. Portanto, com tudo isto não tenho tido todo o tempo que gostaria para dedicar a este blog, mas prometo que vou tentar melhorar isso.

Enquanto pensava nestes projectos paralelos, apercebi-me também que como prativamente só leio e escrevo em inglês, e o meu trabalho também me exige apenas falar/escrever em inglês a minha escrita em português está a ficar um pouco ferrujenta. Não só isso, mas muitas das pessoas que me são mais próximas e a quem algums posts podem ser dedicados, não sabem ou percebem completamente inglês, o que me levou a considerar a hipótese de, sempre que possivel, tentar escrever em ambas as línguas. Não posso garantir que isso vá acontecer sempre porque tenho noção que a minha escrita é muito mais desprendida quando escrevo em inglês, e este é o único sítio em que posso ser completamente livre e não quereria mudar isso. Para ser completamente honesta, geralmente não consigo tolerar o que escrevo se traduzir para português mas posso tentar fazer alguns ajustes, acho que seria um desafio interessante para mim. Assim, gostaria de me comprometer a tentar escrever em ambas as línguas sempre que possivel, concordando já que não irá acontecer sempre. Por isso, se abrirem um post e não estiver na vossa língua, por favor andem pra baixo porque uma segunda versão pode estar disponivel.

This is post will be a bit different from the usual. I wanted to explain and share a few things with you, so instead of doing a small side note, I figured I could dedicate a whole post to it.

First, as some of you may have noticed, lately I haven’t been updating this blog as regularly as before and I would like to explain you why. Well, to start, inspiration doesn’t exactly strikes when you want but it’s been actually due more to lack of time than anything else. I’ve been working on a few other “projects” and it got harder to balance it all. After publishing my first book I have been receiving some requests to write another one, and though I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon (or even sure if it will happen at all) I have a couple stories I’m working on. Besides that, sort of as an accident one of these days I stumbled across a fan fiction website. For those of you who are not familiar with the term (I wasn’t either) it’s a website where regular people go and write their own versions of already existing Tv Shows/Plays/Movies etc. Now, it is a bit like cheating, because you’re basing your stories on characters that have already been written by someone else, and you do have the advantage of having already people interested in them which make them more likely to read your stuff, but still it’s a good way to practice. What I like most about the website is that it has a positive vibe, the reviews are friendly and constructive so it’s motivating. All of this to tell you that after reading a thousand of other peoples stories I decided to give it a try and have now a published story there that I update regularly. So, with all that writing I haven’t have all the time I wished to dedicate to this blog, but I promise to try to get better.

While I was thinking about this parallel projects I also noticed that because I mostly read and write in English and my work involves also only speaking/writing in English, my Portuguese writing is becoming a bit rusty. Not only that but a lot of people that are close to me and to whom some of the post may be directed don’t read or fully understand English so that made me consider the  trying to write as most posts as possible in both languages. Now, I can’t guarantee this will always happen because I’m aware that I write much freely when I’m writing in English and this is the only place I can truly be free, so I wouldn’t want to change that. To be quite honest, I can’t stand most things I write if I translate them to Portuguese but I can try to adjust them, I think it would be a good challenge for me. Therefore, I would like to compromise, I would like to agree with you that I will try to post in both languages as much as possible, but also go ahead and be honest telling you that it won’t always happen.
